Evy Ballegeer, a native of Belgium now firmly rooted in the Bay Area, arms us with perhaps the most versatile tool in our bag of holiday tricks: the crowd-pleasing speculoos cookie. Incorporating local, organic and fair trade ingredients and her signature Little Belgians spice blend, each cookie is shaped using custom wooden molds. Suitable for children, family friends and grumpy party-goes, a couple of these go far in smoothing over a long season of hosting.
- serve alongside coffee, tea and hot cocoa; don't forget to dunk!
- spread with creme fraiche, top with sliced pear et voila -- dessert crostini
