Early summer fruits and veggies are making their way into the markets this week: cherries, summer squash, cukes, and the first of stonefruit crops. Young zucchini are excellent raw, especially when paired with fragrant green garlic. These seasonal overlaps allow for a mashup of recipes and the best of them pair fresh and cooked ingredients, hot and cold elements, and contrasting soft and crunchy textures. Now, get cooking!

With a budget of $20, here's what we purchased for this week's Market Haul, and some recipe ideas to get you pairing your produce with your pantry.

  • Carrots, yellow zucchini, cucumber, John Givens Farm, Santa Barbara
  • Green garlic, Dominguez Farms, Santa Barbara
  • Oro blanco and ruby grapefruit, Mud Creek Ranch, Santa Paula
  • Pinkerton avocado, Peacock Farm, Dinuba
  • Eggs 1/2 doz., Lily's Eggs, Fillmore
  • Cauliflower, Two Peas in a Pod Farm, Arroyo Grande
  • Easter egg radishes, The Garden of... , Los Olivos
